The Questions We Carry

Privacy Policy

The short version

This app doesn't have accounts, doesn't sync to a cloud in this version, and doesn't send your journal entries anywhere. Everything you write is encrypted and stored only on this device. You can export it or permanently delete it, anytime, from Settings.

Information we collect

We don't operate any servers this app talks to, so there's nothing for us to collect from you. Everything below is created and stored entirely on your own device:

How your data is stored

Every answer is encrypted (AES-GCM) before it's written to disk. The encryption keys are protected by your device's Keychain, backed by the Secure Enclave on devices that support it. There is no account, no sign-in, and no cloud sync in this version — your data stays on this device unless you export it yourself.

Face ID / biometric data

If you turn on the optional lock, Face ID or Touch ID is handled entirely by iOS. This app never receives your face or fingerprint data — only a yes/no result from the system telling it whether you were allowed in.

Speech recognition / dictation

If you dictate an answer instead of typing, recognition happens on-device using Apple's Speech framework whenever your device supports it. Your voice isn't sent to us, and isn't sent to Apple's servers for on-device recognition.

Notifications

If you enable a daily reminder, it's a local notification scheduled entirely on your device. Its content is always generic ("your next question is ready") — it never includes anything you've written.

Crash reports

Settings includes a crash-report opt-in toggle. As of this version, that preference isn't yet connected to any crash-reporting service — turning it on or off doesn't currently collect or transmit anything. We're noting that plainly here rather than implying a pipeline that doesn't exist yet; this section will be updated if that changes.

Payments and subscriptions

Any subscription or purchase is handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never see or store your payment details — the app only receives confirmation of what you're entitled to.

Your control over your data

Children's privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under that age.

Changes to this policy

If how this app handles data ever changes, this page will be updated to match — in plain language, not just a version bump.
